Sharon Osbourne has talked about her biggest blunder as manager of Ozzy Osbourne. In an interview with Billy Corgan’s podcast, The Magnificent Others, she disclosed that she once denied Ozzy the chance to try out for a big-budget movie role, which would have seemed like a wonderful fit for him.

Ozzy Was Almost a Pirate?

While discussing Ozzyโ€™s career, Sharon shared a surprising story she had never told before.

“He got offered to go and read for Pirates of the Caribbean, and I’ve never said this to anyone …. and I said no.”

She immediately regretted the decision, adding, “Now wouldn’t he have been perfect?”

Who Got the Role Instead?

Ozzy was being considered for the role of Captain Teague in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, a character later revealed to be the father of Johnny Deppโ€™s Jack Sparrow.

The part ultimately went to another legendary rockerโ€”The Rolling Stonesโ€™ Keith Richards. Depp, who had based much of Jack Sparrowโ€™s persona on Richards, had long wanted him to make an appearance in the series. But now, it turns out Ozzy was also in the mix at some point.

Ozzyโ€™s Other Film Appearances

Even though he missed out on Pirates of the Caribbean, Ozzy has still made his mark in Hollywood. He played a memorable role in the 1986 horror film Trick or Treat and made cameo appearances in The Jerky Boys, Private Parts, Little Nicky, Austin Powers in Goldmember, and the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.

While itโ€™s fun to imagine what Ozzy would have brought to Pirates of the Caribbean, heโ€™s had plenty of wild moments both on and off the screen. And who knows? Maybe thereโ€™s still another iconic role waiting for him in the future!
