AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson isn’t just one of rock’s most powerful voices—he’s also one of its biggest fans. If it were up to him, his ideal band would be made entirely of singers. From his early days with the Jasper Hart Band to becoming the voice of AC/DC, Johnson’s powerful pipes have taken him on an unforgettable journey.

And thanks to his TV series Brian Johnson: A Life on the Road, fans got to see him trade stories and laughs with some of rock’s greatest icons—including Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Sting, Lars Ulrich, and Joe Walsh.

A Rock Chat That Turned Into a Supergroup Idea

After their on-screen conversation, Joe Walsh of The Eagles invited Johnson to appear on his Old Fashioned Rock ‘N’ Roll Radio Show. Their banter quickly led to something exciting—talk of starting their own band.

“I’m not gonna go there, but maybe we should start a band,” Walsh said. Johnson was all in. “Aw, Joe, that would be good. Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, we’d get all the boys. We can sing rock ‘n’ roll harmonies. The Three Rock Singers: That would be pretty good, wouldn’t it?”

Respect Among Rock Legends

The fact that Plant and Daltrey appeared on Johnson’s show says a lot about the mutual admiration among them. In particular, Johnson’s episode with Robert Plant stood out. Plant was candid about Led Zeppelin’s roots and how different things feel now.

“Cream, the Grateful Dead, the white blues thing was kicking in,” Plant explained. “And you had that great West Coast thing going on with Jefferson Airplane and stuff. You had a subculture develop, and we kind of attached ourselves to that. We didn’t have any social statements to make. We weren’t visionaries, in that sense. But we were, still by our age, at the time, still part of that huge movement of energy.”

When Johnson brought up Zeppelin’s classic “Immigrant Song,” Plant joked, “I can’t hardly remember any of it at all.” Then with a laugh, he offered Johnson a spot in the band: “If you want a job now, I can put a good word in for ya!”

A Supergroup That Exists in Our Dreams

Imagine Brian Johnson, Joe Walsh, Robert Plant, and Roger Daltrey teaming up back in their prime—it would’ve been unforgettable. While the dream lineup never became reality, fans will always have the music, the memories, and the what-ifs. And sometimes, imagining it is just as magical.
