You Can Tell That Dusty Hill Is Struggling His In Last Performance With ZZ Top

When Dusty Hill died from an unannounced illness, the whole world mourned for the loss of another legend. Hill became a crucial part of ZZ Top’s sound, filling the rhythm needed for their magnificent songs. And during his last performance with the group, you can almost tell that something is not right with him at this point.

While, no doubt, Dusty Hill’s vocals, and bass tones are superior on their own, in this one video clip below, it’s quite unusual to expect from ZZ Top’s long-time bassist. It’s seemed a bit off, and Hill, unlike his fellow rockers, looked awfully still, hardly seeing any movements other than his control of the bass guitar.

Hill, now already a senior, is not a novice from multiple treatments and illnesses caused due to aging. At one point in ZZ Top’s career, they had to cancel their 2002 European Tour when Hill was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. And in 2014, when he fell on his tour bus and injured his hip, a part of the tour was canceled, until he fully recovered from the injury. It’s one of the few reasons why Hill was already struggling before the 2021 tour happened.

Elwood Francis, ZZ Top’s longtime guitar technician, will assume the bass position on behalf of Hill, per the late bassist’s wishes.
