It’s a huge opportunity to share a stage with a guitar hero, let alone that hero be the one and only Jeff Beck. In this concert footage taken from the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival, Beck surprises us with a soulful rendition to “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” with a young bassist named Tal Wilkenfeld, who’s playing the bass.

The then-21-year-old Tal was allowed to spread her talent in front of the audience no less than a thousand, altogether with the legendary Jeff Beck. But she wasn’t fretting with sweat, as she delivered perfectly the bass tones that are best per Beck’s standards. You can watch the full performance below.

“Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” is a classic Beck song, originally sung by Stevie Wonder. Beck’s version is released inside his commercially successful album, Blow by Blow (1975), and was produced by legendary producer George Martin, who’s responsible for all the Beatle albums to exist.

The flawless rhythm that the two shared is far superior to what anyone could ever think of. That’s not to say that Wilkenfeld is someone that isn’t worth it of your time, but because Jeff Beck invited her to play with him says something about her talents as a musician of her right. That alone makes us want to become fans of hers.
