Ricky Nelson’s hit single “Travelin’ Man” became one of his greatest and most successful songs inside his career. The song’s story calls about a man who is quite a traveler who also admires the beauty of women from the places he visited.

Jerry Fuller, the writer of the song, wrote this with Sam Cooke in mind, aiming to produce it using him. But Cooke’s manager was unconvinced with the demo that he didn’t bother keeping it. It was then that Ricky Nelson adopted the song, which ultimately, became one of his classics.

Nelson was accompanied by the vocal group The Jordanaires during the studio sessions. The pop sound is in full effect, just like any 60s song that you’d ever imagine.

Below, is Ricky Nelson’s 1961 performance of “Travelin’ Man.” Enjoy!
