An Iconic Performance From A Timeless Legend

Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul has passed away at the age of 76. It simply goes without saying that she was, is and always will be one of the most iconic and influential singers of all time. Her style and charisma are the stuff of legend and are often imitated, yet never duplicated. She was one of the best pure and simple.

Today we are reminded of all the iconic performances that Aretha herself put on over the years. One such iconic moment that comes to mind is her legendary performance of “America The Beautiful”.

The day was March 29, 1987 when in front of over 93,000 people in the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, Aretha Franklin kicked off Wrestlemania III in grand fashion with a passionate performance of the aforementioned song. Simply put, to take a rambunctious crowd from deafening roars to stunned silence, that’s just not something that everybody can do.
