The Story Behind Why Keith Moon Broke Into Mick Jagger’s Room As Batman

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger revealed an unusual encounter of him inside his hotel room with Keith Moon dressed as a batman.

“Keith was a complete lunatic,” Jagger said in an interview with Howard Stern. “I was in Los Angeles in a hotel once and I was asleep, and he broke into my room dressed as Batman.” Such rare encounter doesn’t really equate to normal, especially from stars like Mick Jagger.

Since you can’t trust hotel securities by then, Jagger was actually prepared for intruders who break into his windows at night: “I think I had a knife, at least; I had some sort of defensive weapon.” When the frontman was about to hit the masked Batman, Moon anxiously shouted “It’s Keith! It’s Keith!” Which confused Jagger, who retorted: “You’re not Keith; I can tell you’re not Keith by your voice.” Jagger thought “Keith” was Stones’ guitarist, Keith Richards.

Moon immediately replied his real name “Keith Moon” as he took his mask of afterward.
