Janie’s Got A Fund…And A Home!

Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler has a musical legacy that will live on for years to come. But his latest venture might just leave an even bigger impact in the lives of vulnerable young women.

The Aerosmith front man’s latest project is literally life-changing — changing the lives of young women through building and now opening a new location of Janie’s House in Memphis, Tennessee. Janie’s Home is a center that provides shelter and resources to vulnerable young women who are victims of abuse and neglect. Janie’s House is a project from his charity Janie’s Fund which is named after Aerosmith’s 1989 hit song “Janie’s Got a Gun,” which tells the story about a girl who is abused by her family. In the song, the lyrics talk about how Janie succumbed to drugs just to escape the pain and abuse she was getting from her father.

During the opening ceremony of the center, Tyler cut one of his iconic scarves in lieu of a traditional ribbon cutting.
“This does my heart and my soul good,” Tyler said. “This is real – to help even just one girl through Janie’s House is a dream come true… just when the world feels over, you can turn into a butterfly.”

The center measures at 39,000 square feet and will house 14 girls at a time but is expected provide services for up to 30 girls between the ages of 12 and 18 annually.

The first location of Janie’s House opened in Atlanta, Georgia in 2017. Plans to open a third Janie’s House is set for Las Vegas at the end of this year.
