Sammy Hagar and The Circle has recently released the music video for “Affirmation“, the 9th track from the band’s debut album Space Between.

Haggar hired Joe Satriani’s son, ZZ Satriani, to write and direct the music video. ZZ has already directed music videos for 2 other tracks on the album, namely “Trust Fund Baby” and “Can’t Hang“. With the actors for the storyline of the video, clips of the band performing live at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, and the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, California were also included.

In an interview with Billboard, Hagar told the story of how the music video came to be, his goal being to create a short film for the whole album. “I gave him a whole bunch of money and said, ‘Go crazy!’ The reason I like this movie is it gives the album more legs. It’s not just a record, and when you see this movie you’re gonna go back and listen to the record and go, ‘Oh!’ It elevates your listening and viewing experience.”  Hagar says he is aiming for the film to debut at festivals, and then eventually Netflix.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever tried to do something deep,” Hagar continued. “It makes me look forward to playing every night, and I’m excited for the first time in a long, long time.”
