Alex Lifeson, known for being the guitarist of Canadian rock band Rush, released his latest song “Cherry Lopez Lullaby” from his upcoming solo album Envy of None.

The three-minute instrumental track shows the guitarist’s acoustic plucking interspersed with its saturated electric riffs and a nonchalant drum tone. You can also hear the song’s faint vocals from time to time. Fans also got an update on Lifeson’s current status of the album.

In a newsletter announcement from the musician, he revealed some funny details on how he came up with the song, saying it all came forth during Rush’s mixing sessions of their 2012 album Clockwork Angels.

“I did an interview with High Times and the interviewer brought along a friend, an esteemed grower who provided a sample of his creation named Cherry Lopez,” Lifeson wrote. “I had some borrowed acoustic and electric guitars for the duration, thankfully, as sitting around waiting to go to the studio was tedious and certainly, a bowl of Cherry kept my appetite healthy,” he added.
