John Prine had just been selected as one of the recipients of the Recording Academy’s 2020 Lifetime Achievement awards. Prine, whose self-titled debut album from 1971 was given the honorable treatment in the Grammy Hall of Fame back in 2015, has also secured three Grammy nominations last year for the album, Tree Of Forgiveness.

Among the other Lifetime Achievement awardees are the band Chicago, singer Roberta Flack, soul icon Isaac Hayes, punk rocker Iggy Pop, hiphop trailblazers Public Enemy, and rock n’ roll pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe. To accompany the awarding ceremony, a concert will also take place on the 18th of April at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. Additional details will be revealed soon as the date nears.

The 62nd Grammy Awards ceremony will be aired live on CBS on the 26th of January, with the venue being at the Staples Center of Los Angeles. Tanya Tucker is the year’s most-nominated country artist, which is highlighted by the all-genre Song Of The Year acclaim for “Bring My Flowers Now”.
