While school is out of the equation in this pandemic situation, music teachers are still able to bring the talents of their students amidst social distancing protocols.

Ben Millington, instructor at England’s Telford Priory School, gathered his students (albeit virtually) to do a cover of Elton John’s 1983 hit “I’m Still Standing”, editing their individual parts together to form a whole music video which he uploaded back in March. Sir Elton John caught wind of the said cover just recently, sharing his find on his social media accounts and praising the effort of Millington and his students.

In a tweet, John wrote: “The students in Mr. Millington’s music class at @telfordpriory did a brilliant version of my song, #ImStillStanding. Ben, you did a fantastic job and I look forward to having you all as guests at my show.”

Elton John was supposed to be busy on the North American leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour when COVID-19 forced him and everyone else to postpone their activities. John says the remaining dates will be executed in 2021, and while there has been no news of rescheduled dates, all tickets for the said shows will remain valid till 2021. John still has European dates to hit for this year, however, by September 5 in Cologne, Germany.
