Stewart Copeland, drummer of the British band The Police, joined Eddie Vedder onstage for a phenomenal take on the band’s “Message in a Bottle” song.

The surprising performance happened during Vedder’s Los Angeles concert on February 25, held at the YouTube Theater. Vedder and his all-star band The Earthlings had some notable names in the set including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction, Glen Hansard of the Swell Season, and Andrew Watt. But with Copeland on drummer duties for, Smith took with him his guitar and strummed along to The Police classic. The performance was then followed by Neil Young’s “Rockin’ the Free World” which is what we all needed for an eventful collaboration.

Vedder recently finished a successful US tour to promote his newest album Earthling. Apart from the cover version of “Message in a Bottle,” the band has also performed several songs from other artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and even a stupefying performance of The Pretenders’ “Precious” with Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan featuring.

You can watch the riveting performance below.
