Brian Johnson Shares Joe Walsh’s Eagles Back Up Band Story | I Love Classic Rock Videos

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recalled that the Eagles were described by Joe Walsh as “the greatest backing band” during a recent appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Tracks Of My Years.

It is duly noted that Eagles’ Joe Walsh and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson had long been friends. Walsh even posted a photo of himself and Johnson jamming in the studio on Instagram after the Eagles’ historic sold-out show at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 23, 2019. This fueled rumors for collaboration, which, unfortunately, didn’t happen. Nevertheless, we all love a good moment between rock legends, no matter what.

When asked what songs have been the soundtrack to his life, longtime friend Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way” topped Brian Johnson’s list. According to the singer, Walsh is a close friend and the song is a classic. After that, Johnson talked about how much fun they had together in London, dedicated to the late Taylor Hawkins. After the show, Walsh referred to the Eagles as his “backing band,” which the vocalist recalled.

“‘Rocky Mountain [Way]’ is my favorite of all time songs. Joe Walsh is one of my bestest friends, and he is the funniest, loveliest man. We had a wonderful time together at Wembley at the Taylor Hawkins gig.”

He continued: “He was coming on for me, and he said, ‘Brian Johnson, now I know the night is gonna be alright.’ He gave us the biggest laugh, I was crying, and I was like ‘Thank you, son.’ It was lovely. We keep in touch a lot now. I shouldn’t say this, but I’m gonna say it anyway. When he goes and comes up, it is brilliant. We all love the Eagles. Of course, even the audience. Every time Joe just shifts in his chair. And he is getting quite mischievous, turns around and, ‘I got the greatest backing band in the world.’”
