Watch The First Ever TV Peformance Of ‘Sultans Of Swing’ By Dire Straits

Dire Straits got their first mark of widespread fame when they released “Sultans of Swing,” their first single coming from their self-titled debut LP. From then on, they opened a new portal full of possibilities.

One TV show that invited them to perform this classic track is the Old Grey Whistle Test, A British television program for music shows. The performance can be seen on YouTube where the young musicians Mark & David Knopfler, John Illsley, and Pick Withers went and amazed the crowd with their special talents.

The upbeat tune could make you groove, and the guys seem to have enjoyed the whole set. Knopfler’s voice is raunchy, making it seem as though he was announcing rather than singing. Plus that melodic guitar riffs could is definitely tops! It’s one good performance, that’s what it is.
