Sammy Hagar’s Rock & Roll Road Trip is a fantastic gift to diehard rock fans who wanted to see the blond rocker making rounds on TV by meeting fellow rock legends and discussing their olden days and current ventures in life. Watch Hagar’s interview with Judas Priest’s iconic frontman Rob Halford below.

Hagar approached Halford by calling him a “guy he looked up to.” Both discussed the life they once lived before, especially during their drugged and booze-driven selves. Halford admitted that he’d snort a line of cocaine whenever he goes off stage in between songs, and he’s more than happy to say that all’s in the past now.

Halford surprisingly remembered the first time he’d performed sober in a show. JP performed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1986, wherein the now-sober Halford felt new and good about himself for the first time, albeit he’s mortified since no chemicals were stopping his mind to function properly. “I walked on stage that night, and I was terrified, ‘cause I hadn’t been on stage without a drink for all those years as a performer. But as soon as I started to perform, I felt something that I was never feeling before because I had nothing kind of getting in the way. It was just the great joy and feeling of the human voice.”

He called that feeling “something that he’s been missing out as a singer and as a performer,” and is blessed to have the opportunity to get out of that downward spiral.

Hagar and Halford also discussed albums, songwriting, and publicity. And a mini-game called “This and That,” questioning Halford’s different tastes were also done. Watch the clip below.
