Longtime Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason will be touring Australia with his classic rock band, Saucerful of Secrets, in September.

Mason and his band will tour Australia for four gigs, stopping in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Perth. The band specializes in playing early songs by the legendary UK band, before the release of Dark Side of the Moon.

Mason formed Saucerful of Secrets in 2018, paying homage to Pink Floyd’s psychedelic and experimental side in the late 1960s and early 1970s, namely the period when Syd Barrett was the band’s lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter before his departure in 1968.

The band found its audience and swiftly sold-out tours around North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom, including two historic performances at The Roundhouse in Camden, where Pink Floyd had their debut gig in 1966. Mason is joined by Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet, Guy Pratt on bass, Lee Harris on guitar, and Dom Beken on keyboards, all of whom lend new vitality to songs from the legendary band’s early years.

Nick Mason, the project’s founder, said in an interview: “With the help of some like-minded friends, I have embarked on a voyage of discovery of the music that was the launch pad of Pink Floyd and my working life. It seems too early to retire, and I missed the interaction with other musicians.”

Tickets for the rescheduled performances can be purchased from normal sources.
