Fans of the classic rock bands Journey and Cheap Trick in the United Kingdom and Ireland have something to celebrate this fall as Journey has announced their 50th-anniversary “Freedom Tour.” The legendary rockers would tour the United Kingdom and Ireland, serving up a schedule of ten shows that includes stops in Glasgow, Dublin, Liverpool, and Birmingham beginning on October 30. The iconic rockers will be supported on the tour by Cheap Trick.

Tickets for the “Freedom Tour” go on sale Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. GMT.

The energy and enthusiasm of their fans will ensure the shows are a sell-out, adding to the significance of Journey’s 50-year milestone.

Journey founding guitarist Neal Schon, who has been with the band since its formation in 1973, said in a statement, “It’s been too long since we’ve seen you all! We are all very excited to be coming back to the UK and playing with our good friends Cheap Trick, who I’ve known and played with since the ’70s. It’s going to be a great party for all!”

Journey has been a staple of every rock band lover’s music collection, boasting 25 gold and platinum albums, 19 top 40 singles, and over 100 million albums sold. Their album “Greatest Hits” has surpassed the 15-time platinum certification, pulling the band among the few that were ever certified diamond. Their anthemic “Don’t Stop Believin'” alone has been streamed over a billion times. Such moments have even earned the band the prestigious Legends of Live” touring award by Billboard.

Journey was even inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, and in 2018, their co-headlining tour with Def Leppard was their most successful to date.

The tour landed them a spot in the Top 10 year-end touring chart and sold over a million tickets, earning them such praise and awards. In March 2019, Journey fans worldwide celebrated as “Escape & Frontiers Live In Japan,” a DVD/CD set, was released featuring the band’s live performance at the Budokan in Tokyo, featuring the band’s first-ever performances of the albums “Escape” and “Frontiers” in their entirety.

In addition to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame star and induction into the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame, the band is also the subject of the award-winning documentary “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey,” which follows the band’s resurgence after adding Arnel Pineda as their lead singer.

Although the U.K and Ireland tour is yet to kick-off, fans in North America can gear up for an even more significant Journey concert lineup for next year’s Summer under the title “The Stadium Tour 2024” which sees Journey, Def Leppard, and Steve Miller co-headlining 23 cities across North America.

Cheap Trick will join as an opening act for a majority of the tour dates, while fellow Rock Hall inductees Heart and Cheap Trick will alternate as opening acts for the seven shows where Miller will not be performing.
