The Metallica frontman goes from rocker to actor in his role as the highway trooper who arrested the notorious killer Ted Bundy in the upcoming biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
The film stars Zac Efron as Ted Bundy, the American serial killer who murdered at least 30 women in across six states in the 1970s. The official teaser trailer was released Jan. 25 and we saw a glimpse of Hetfield owning his role as an intimidating cop who got first got a hold of Bundy.
Hetfield landed the role of real-life patrol officer Bob Hayward and was personally cast by director Joe Berlinger who also directed a documentary about Metallica Some Kind of Monster back in 2004. “Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up. It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled”, says Berlinger of Hetfield.
