When it comes to epic masterpieces, there’s no shortage of mind-blowing covers. Case in point – we have seen several artists who attempted to recreate Pink Floyd’s magic by recording their own take on “Comfortably Numb.” But there are few who raised the bar when it comes to cover versions – one of them is 20-year old Chloé who goes by the username Rockloe in her YouTube channel.
She played it like a pro. And while her guitar skills are already magnificent, what we like most about this is how she’s totally feeling the music and it’s clear that she poured her heart into it. With those little smiles, you can tell she’s having blast too! Music is her passion and it shows.
She’s a big fan of classic rock judging from her other covers. She’s done tunes from AC/DC and The Eagles to Led Zeppelin and Queen.
“Comfortably Numb” is one of Pink Floyd’s most famous songs and it’s extra popular to guitar players because of its TWO solos. Of course, it goes without saying that David Gilmour shined whenever he played it and it cemented his status as a rock god.
“I just went out into the studio and banged out 5 or 6 solos. From there I just followed my usual procedure, which is to listen back to each solo and mark out bar lines, saying which bits are good. In other words, I make a chart, putting ticks and crosses on different bars as I count through: two ticks if it’s really good, one tick if it’s good and cross if it’s no go.” – David Gilmour via Guitar World
Although Chloe somehow made it look easy, it’s not. More than copying Gilmour’s gear and what he uses when he plays, it’s about the man’s skill and talent which isn’t something anyone can just duplicate. Thus, the fact that Chloe’s cover is stellar speaks volumes about her mad guitar chops.
