Gary Clark Jr. and Jon Batiste teamed up to pay tribute to rock pioneers Chuck Berry and Fats Domino. Batiste took the lead with the 1950s classic hit “Ain’t That A Shame” while Clark fronted his version of “Maybelline” (no duck walk for him but hey, that guitar solo is everything).

It was a strong and solid performance from the artists and we can’t help but fall in love with their impressive roaring covers. It was one of the finest moments of the whole show.

“Chuck Berry was playing in my house and my grandparents’ house so [his music] was [always] around… and he was incredible, full of energy, duck walking — he played great. It was fun and wild and loose. It was cool, man. He was an icon standing there in my hometown doing his thing.” – Gary Clark Jr.

It was a moving, beautiful tribute – definitely fit for the gods.
