Viral Star Uses The Force To Put Your Costume To Shame

At the end of the day, a little good old fashioned originality paired with a great sense of humor trump any costume you could ever hope to pick up at your local Halloween haunt, as evidenced by Texas musician Clay Shelburn and the costume he threw together over the weekend. If his name sounds familiar, it should; in 2015 Shelburn and his pal Zac Stokes nearly broke the internet with their video of their impromptu WalMart jam of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Pride and Joy,” making headlines all over the world and leaving folks scratching their heads in amazement at the fact that a child’s toy guitar could shred quite that hard.

Just in time to participate in the Halloween festivities going on all weekend long, Clay took to social media with photos of his Halloween costume, immediately earning high praise from fans as “Darth Brooks” (or Garth Vader) – Shelburn rocking a Darth Vader t-shirt and mask while rocking out on an acoustic guitar in the vein of country legend Garth Brooks.

Who Is Clay Shelburn?

Rising to fame in 2015 with his Walmart Rocker video, Clay Shelburn is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist out of Fort Worth, Texas. He’s been performing since the age of 13, amassing a devoted following of fans who can’t get enough of Shelburn’s brand of “funktry”: a fusion of funk, rock, blues and country.

When he’s not rocking the toy aisle at his local WalMart, you can find Clay hard at work on his third album and traveling all over the world with fiercely fun, fiercely creative music for the masses.

If that’s not the coolest – and most original – costume I’ve seen all season, I don’t know what is. Who doesn’t love a little dark side with their country music, anyway? Rock on, Clay, and may the Force be with you!
