Elton John’s pre-recorded set at the Platinum Jubilee was nevertheless a show-stealer, despite him not being physically present in this significant event.

Crowds waved their wristbands and flags in the air as footage of the 75-year-old John delivering the poignant ballad, “Your Song,” was projected onto Buckingham Palace. A live orchestra accompanying Sir Elton’s performance can be observed, and lyrics were also projected on the screen for the audience to follow through. He was unable to be there physically due to conflicts in the schedule regarding his Farewell Yellow Brick Road global tour.

Apart from the “Tiny Dancer” singer, the concert also catered to a handful of fantastic musicians such as Diana Ross, Sir Rod Stewart, Queen + Adam Lambert, Duran Duran, Alicia Keys, Sam Ryder, and many more to be a part of this special moment in history. A live audience of over 22,000 were on the premises of the royal palace, all ready to thank Queen Elizabeth II and her 70 years of service.

Sir Elton showed his appreciation in an Instagram post. “I was thrilled and honoured to be asked to be part of the Platinum Party at the Palace,” he wrote. “I hope you enjoy the special performance, I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Elton John performed at the first Party at the Palace to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002, and at the Diamond Jubilee Concert in 2012; making him one of the few acts to do so.
