Ed Sheeran has collaborated with legendary singer Elton John for a holiday song named “Merry Christmas.” Watch and listen to its music video below.

Ed revealed how the two collaborated for the holidays on a brief video clip. “Last Christmas, I received a call from my mate Elton John,” the singer said. “And he told me we should do a ‘Christmas song,’ and I replied, ‘Yeah, maybe in 2022.’ But I actually wrote the chorus that day, and here we are.” The singer was, at first, reluctant to do a Christmas song, a revelation he admitted on The Tonight Show.

“Not that I don’t like Christmas. I love Christmas, but in terms of doing a Christmas song, you need to chuck the kitchen sink at it.” But John convinced him, and together, they’ve cranked up some time to do it.

This isn’t the first Christmas song that Elton John did; back in 1973, the singer released a stand-along holiday single called “Step Into Christmas,” and a B-side called “Ho, Ho, Ho (Who’d Be a Turkey at Christmas).”
