In a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Chris Robinson, frontman of The Black Crowes, reminisced about the band’s storied past and dropped a jaw-dropping tale involving two rock legends—Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.

The conversation revolved around The Black Crowes’ reunion four years ago to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Shake Your Money Maker.’

Amidst the reunion buzz, Robinson delved into a memorable experience when they shared the stage with Dylan and The Rolling Stones in Montpellier, South of France.

Chris Robinson shared with Stern:

“I’ll always remember it because I met Bob that day, and he’s ultimately my biggest hero.”

The Rolling Stones had invited Bob Dylan to join them on stage for a rendition of ‘Like a Rolling Stone.’

However, the performance took an unexpected turn.

“They go around to the chorus and then they come up to Bob’s turn,” Robinson explained. “Bob goes to the mic and doesn’t sing anything. And you see them look around and they’re like, ‘Okay.’ Cos it’s like you missed a turn at a roundabout, and you gotta go all the way back around. So they go all the way around again…and he just leans into the mic and turns away.”

Despite the initial hiccup, Dylan eventually contributed his vocals but made a dramatic exit before the song concluded. As Robinson vividly recounted, Dylan turned around as he left the stage, locked eyes with The Stones, and delivered an unforgettable parting message:

“F*ck you!” accompanied by a defiant middle finger. Robinson added, “It was the best fucking concert I’ve ever seen in my life.”
