Beatles from the islands

The REO brothers hail from Tacloban in the Philippines, an island devastated cruelly by the typhoon Hayan in 2013. The four brothers RJ (lead guitar), Reno (drums), Ralph (bass) and Raymart (rhythm guitar) lost their home and all their possessions from the storm surge that literally swept the island of Tacloban away.

They may have lost everything in their hometown but certainly not their talent. The brothers, who in every way embody The Beatles, first performed in a fundraising gig in Manila for the victims of the typhoon Hayan, a cause obviously close to their hears. Once the brothers introduced their flawless vocal harmonies to the audience, the deal was sealed and they gained thousands of adoring fans.

Their luck turned even more for the better when they scored a gig at the historic Cavern Club in Liverpool, England, the birthplace of iconic British band The Beatles, which they are huge fans of. They also became the first Filipino musicians to perform at the Cavern Club.

The brothers then were dubbed as ’The Beatles of the Philippines’ and booked concerts in Birmingham and London.

Although their style basically embodies that of The Beatles, one fan countered that they, in fact, do not try to copy them and are a band of their own.
