“Rhiannon” is perhaps considered to be one of Fleetwood Mac’s classic songs. You can’t seem to get enough of it, and it gives off an air of mystery from the very first listen.

Stevie Nicks wrote “Rhiannon,” which was initially recorded by Fleetwood Mac for their self-titled 1975 album. Nicks collaborated with her then-boyfriend, Lindsey Buckingham, on the piano composition. The duo, then-named Buckingham-Nicks, were set to release the song on their second album, but instead, they joined Fleetwood Mac and recorded it with them.

Nicks would often add, “This is a song about an ancient Welsh witch,” before playing the song live. When Fleetwood Mac played “Rhiannon” live, the showmanship of the performance surpassed that of the FM radio single. Nicks’s voice reached such a crescendo that “her Rhiannon in those days was like an exorcism,” as drummer and band co-founder Mick Fleetwood recounted. This song significantly impacted Stevie Nicks’s public persona, influencing her to use black stage costumes and long, flowing shawls. It gave her an air of mystique, and her fans soon began donning similar clothing.

With wanting to catch the same air of mystique as those of Nicks’, YouTube content creator therunningmates sang an excellent rendition of “Rhiannon.” The cover, posted on YouTube in November 2020, has garnered over 107k views on the streaming platform and a lot of positive comments, especially from fans.
