Sammy Hagar joined Mick Jones, the bandleader and lead guitarist of Foreigner, on Rock & Roll Road Trip to discuss the lasting impact of the band’s song “Feels Like the First Time.” They also took time to play a Foreigner classic, “Dirty White Boy.”

The lighthearted and exciting interview also discussed Jones’ experience working with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin in the studio. The two also had a conversation on Jones’ lengthy and eventful career, but the highlight for fans of both musicians is likely to be their dissection of the Foreigner classic “Dirty White Boy.” Sammy claims that the song is “probably [his] favorite Foreigner tune.” The video features Jones playing a loud, distorted guitar, and Hagar singing while slapping his hip for rhythm.

“I was almost competition with you at this point and I thought, ‘Yeah, they hit it on this one,’” Hagar said, noting how he felt jealous that Foreigner was on edge with this fantastic song. Right then also, both Jones and Hagar come to the conclusion that Sammy is, in all likelihood, what they refer to as a “dirty white boy,” after which they laughed and launch into the song.
