California-based pop rock band Huey Lewis and the News, are remembered for their incredible songs. During the course of the ‘80s and ‘90s, they enjoyed a string of hits, with a total of 19 reaching the top ten on various Billboard charts. Sports, published in 1983, was their most commercially successful album to date. The album, combined with the success of the accompanying music videos on MTV, propelled the band to international prominence. The song “The Power of Love” became more popular after being incorporated into the blockbuster movie Back to the Future.

The boast of being harder than diamonds is remarkable. Diamonds are exceptional in many ways: in their rarity, in their beauty, and in their durability. When it comes to natural materials, diamonds definitely take the cake. If diamonds are a 10 on the Mohs scale, the “power of love” is probably an 11 or higher, according to the lyrics.

Everything that you needed to know about the group can be listened to and watched from an April 1987 interview of Huey Lewis inside the late show, Letterman. The 15-minute clip is full of entertaining bits of conversation done by the host and the guest, as well as fantastic acapella footage of “Naturally” provided by the singer with the News. They then proceeded to tear the stage with a fantastic performance of “Hip to Be Square,” together with The World’s Most Dangerous Band.
