ZZ Top legend Billy Gibbons has released the first single off his upcoming solo album, Big Bad Blues. Titled “Rollin’ and Tumblin'”, the song marks the first of many tracks on the second solo record of the bluesman.

The album, Big Bad Blues, will feature a mix of original songs alongside covers of tried and tested blues hits. It is produced by Gibbons and Joe Hardy, who has done work with Alice Cooper, Alex Chilton, Depeche Mode, among others.

“Rollin’ and Tumblin'” is a Muddy Waters standard, who also borrowed it from a 1929 tune by Hambone Willie Newbern. Gibbons isn’t the first one to cover it, however, as acts like Cream, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and others have made their own mark on the song.

Apart from that, Gibbons has just done some studio work with ZZ Top tourmate John Fogerty, recording the new song, “Holy Grail”, in the process. He has also been working with Moving Sidewalks, on which he was a member before founding ZZ Top. A solo tour is also in the way in support of Big Bad Blues.
