Here’s What We Know
This past 22nd of June was truly one of the saddest days in rock history because it was the day that Vinnie Paul, legendary drummer for bands such as Pantera, Damageplan, and Hellyeah, passed away. He was just 54 at the time of his death.
Now, more than two months later, details of the cause of his death have finally been revealed. TMZ has just reported that the official cause of his death was “dilated cardiomyopathy — an enlarged heart — as well as severe coronary artery disease”.
When Vinnie’s death was first reported, it was heavily speculated that his passing was heart related, but unconfirmed by his family or any other source. Now, it’s confirmed.
Vinnie’s brother Dimebag Darrell was tragically murdered on stage in 2004. Throughout his remaining years, Vinnie consistently honored his brother’s legacy. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of their friends and family during what we can only imagine has been an incredibly difficult year. RIP Vinnie.
