Elvis Presley, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, had an illustrious career not only on stage but also in Hollywood. One of his co-stars, Anne Helm, initially denied any romantic involvement with the King, but years later, she opened up about their secret affair, shedding light on a captivating chapter in Elvis’s life.

In 1962, Anne Helm starred alongside Elvis in the movie “Follow That Dream.”

At the time, Anne was a rising actress, having gained fame as a model and dancer in New York City’s Copacabana club. Working with Elvis was her big break, portraying Holly Jones, the King’s love interest, where their on-screen chemistry transcended into real life.

During the summer of 1961, while filming in Florida, Elvis and Anne were frequently spotted together, sparking rumors of a romance. However, the King never publicly acknowledged their relationship, as he was engaged to Priscilla Beaulieu, whom he later married in 1967.

Elvis spoke fondly of Anne, saying:

“Anne is one of the nicest young actresses Iโ€™ve ever worked with. She worked very hard down there in Florida, and there was no conceit in her.”

He also shared:

“We had a lot of time together when we werenโ€™t working. Weโ€™d go back to the motel where the whole crew was staying, and watch TV or play blackjack or Monopoly. We ate dinner together, too. We had a lot of fun – sheโ€™s really a wonderful girl.”

At that time, Anne denied any romantic involvement with Elvis, insisting they were just friends.

However, in 2010, she revealed the truth:

“We did have a romance; it was quite wonderful. Elvis was away from the madding crowd. It was like a shipboard romance.”

Anne provided glimpses into the nature of their relationship during the heat of the summer in ’61:

ย “In those days we were very promiscuous, and of course, I knew he was having a lot of affairs, but we really adored one another.”

At the tender age of 19, Anne expressed genuine feelings for the 26-year-old Elvis:

“I mean, I really loved him. I just sensed that his life was very compartmentalized. It was a more innocent time.”

“We were very youngโ€ฆ Everyone knew about Priscilla, although he didnโ€™t talk a lot about Priscilla to me, but it was rumored they were going to be married.”

Elvis and Anne’s love story, hidden for decades, adds a captivating layer to the King’s legendary life, showcasing a side that went beyond the glitz and glamour of the stage and screen.
