The Rolling Stones Song That Features Keith Richards On Vocal Duties

Keith Richards and Mick Jagger are to the Rolling Stones as John Lennon and Paul McCartney were to the Beatles. Both are essentially iconic in their own ways and both also spearheaded the “British Invasion” which became big in the 60s.

One of the most famous songwriting duos in music history is Richards and Jagger. “Tell Me (You’re Coming Back)” was the first song they wrote and released, and it ended up on their self-titled first album. Although Jagger was the primary vocalist for the majority of the band’s recordings, Richards occasionally took the lead, breaking away from his role as a backup vocalist to showcase his entire range. Between the Buttons’ “Something Happened to Me Yesterday” and “Connection” from 1967 were the first tracks on which Richards sang a sizable portion. Richards contributed vocally to one of Beggar’s Banquet’s “Salt of the Earth” verses, but it was “You Got the Silver” off of Let It Bleed was the first song on which he sang lead.

Richards has contributed lead vocals intermittently throughout the 1960s; his most recent efforts were on “This Place is Empty” and “Infamy” from 2005’s A Bigger Bang.
