Santana wasn’t as big as they are now when they were invited to the Woodstock festival in August 1969. Back then, they were a couple of nobodies, yet, they were among the few bands who captured the interest of the audience— performing their songs fused with Afro-Latin blues-rock. The success of their performance boosted their album’s sales, and two months later, they were invited to the iconic Ed Sullivan Show.

While on-stage in a dimly lit backdrop with psychedelic effects playing behind them, Santana performed “Jingo”, a cover version single from their self-titled debut album. Still fresh from their fame they received from Woodstock Festival, they have also managed to perform the song in an Afro-Latin manner, creating a new fanbase for the emerging successful band in the later years.
