Steven Tyler Recalls Meeting His Future Aerosmith Bandmate at Woodstock | I Love Classic Rock Videos

Before Steven Tyler became the big rockstar that he is, he was just like the common fan, attending concerts and music festivals like his life depending on it. Steven Tyler was apparently present in the original Woodstock Festival of 1969, saying he camped on the mud and waited for hours on end to listen to the classic rock greats. He recalls being woken up by Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of theĀ “Star-Spangled Banner”, complete with the detailed whammy bar play description.

Tyler also recalls the time he met future Aerosmith drummer, Joey Kramer, again, since they were bandmates in their high school years. Steven Tyler says he believed in serendipity too much, it probably caused their paths to cross in the midst of the wasteland looking terrain of the Woodstock venue. He goes on the interview saying how much he admired the classic rock legends and wanted to be up their ranks.
