Acclaimed musician Elton John just had his fantasy biopic Rocketman snag three Golden Globe nominations; one for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy; Best Performance by an Actor Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy; and Best Original Song – Motion Picture.

The film went up against Dolemite Is My NameJojo Rabbit, Knives Out and Once Upon a time in Hollywood for the best picture category, while Taron Egerton pits against Eddie Murphy, Roman Griffin DavisDaniel Craig and Leonardo DiCaprio, who are the respective stars of the aforementioned movies.

The new song “I’m Gonna Love Me Again” faces against “Beautiful Ghosts” from Cats, “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2, “Spirit” from The Lion King and “Stand Up” from Harriet.

Movie director Dexter Fletcher admitted he considered the idea of having Freddie Mercury make a cameo on the movie, saying, “There was an idea I had at one point, where Elton’s in a restaurant with his mother. I thought John Reid and Freddie could be at another table and they wave at each other.”

He dropped the plan, however, saying that he was “not looking to set out to make a cinematic universe.”
