Could It Be?

Last year, it was Journey and Steve Perry that kept fans on the edge of their seats as they wondered whether or not the singer would take the stage next to his former bandmates as they accepted their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This year, the stakes are a little higher as New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi have been nominated for a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, leaving them wide open for the question that’s on everyone’s lips: if they are inducted, will former guitarist Richie Sambora be in attendance? Furthermore, does he even want to?

According to Sambora, the answer to both questions is a resounding “Of course, of course!” The guitarist weighed in on the possibility of reuniting with his former Bon Jovi bandmates for the first time in what will by then be 5 years since his exit in 2013, reasoning that while he and the guys are on great terms, a reunion with Bon Jovi for the biggest milestone of their career is about something infinitely more important:

“Hey, look, at the end of the day, the great thing is that we made a lot of people happy, we put a lot of asses in the seats, we sold a lot of records and wrote some great songs that made a lot of people happy.

So I guess if I do get in, I’ll feel like it’s maybe deserved or something like that. That’s the way I look at it. We were out there playing for thirty-some-odd years and made a lot of people happy, so maybe that’s a deserved thing.”

As it stands, Bon Jovi is leading the pack with a healthy lead over The Moody Blues, Dire Straits, The Cars and The Eurythmics for the top spot. With more than two months to go until the official list of inductees is announced it’s anyone’s game, but judging by the over 100,000 fan votes in Bon Jovi’s favor, there’s a pretty good chance that New Jersey’s favorite sons will finally get the recognition they deserve – with Richie Sambora at their side.
