The 17th Grammy Awards in 1975 came as a surprise to everyone when John Lennon and Paul Simon shared the stage to present the Record of the Year award. As you must know, 5 years ago from the said date, both The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel split ways and were now becoming used to as solo recording artists. Trust us, the evening was full of witty banters and hilarious replies from the presenters themselves.

John and Paul (not the McCartney one) joined Andy Williams onstage. The musicians then told one another about their “partners” that they used to “play” songs with. Laughter erupted since it become evident that the audience likely knew what was going to be discussed.

Lennon and Simon then began announcing the names of the nominees: Elton John, Roberta Flack, Joni Mitchell, Olivia Newton-John, and Maria Muldaur, while also commenting a witty remark on each artist. Newton-John won the award but couldn’t receive it since she’s absent. And to everyone’s surprise, it was Art Garfunkel who accepted it on her behalf!

For the first time since years have passed, Simon and Garfunkel reunited right there at the Grammy stage. Lennon didn’t miss the opportunity by asking “Are you guys ever getting back together again?” and Simon told his old partner, “I thought I told you to wait in the car?” The venue was filled with laughter at that point.
