Musical Perfection

Classic Rock readers just confirmed what we already know – that Pink Floyd’s monolithic record “The Dark Side of The Moon” is the greatest album ever made. Anyone who has listened to it will acknowledge that it’s the work of a musical genius. And the title’s fitting too – there’s an otherworldly feel to it that others just can’t compare.

It was last august when the magazine conducted a poll where their followers in social media (Twitter and Facebook) could vote for The Greatest Rock Albums of All Time. Led Zeppelin landed on the 2nd and 3rd spot with “IV” and “II.” The Beatles’ “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” made it to #4 while Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” is at #5.

“I think every album was a step toward Dark Side of the Moon. We were learning all the time; the techniques of the recording and our writing was getting better.” – Rick Wright

It’s an epic masterpiece. It’s rare enough that all songs in an album are good, even more so when almost every single one of them became instant classics.

Classic Rock released the full list in a special edition magazine which you can purchase online.
