A long-planned biopic chronicling the life and love story of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne remains on track, despite the rock legend’s recent passing. Polygram Entertainment confirmed that the project is still in motion, with negotiations for a director reportedly nearing completion. The announcement follows the music world’s shock over Ozzy’s death on July 22 at the age of 76.

Originally announced four years ago, the film will explore the couple’s decades-long relationship — from their early years together to their enduring marriage and family life. The project is a collaboration between Sony, Osbourne Media, and Polygram Entertainment, aiming to tell the story behind one of rock’s most famous partnerships.

The biopic is expected to feature music from Ozzy’s iconic solo career as well as his groundbreaking work with Black Sabbath. With a screenplay penned by Rocketman writer Lee Hall, fans can expect an emotionally charged narrative underscored by some of rock’s most influential tracks.

A Family Legacy on Screen

Sharon Osbourne, along with children Jack and Aimee, are set to serve as producers, ensuring the film captures the personal and authentic details of their family’s journey. Married in 1982, Ozzy and Sharon shared not only a life together but also three children — Aimee, Kelly, and Jack — each of whom has carved their own path in the public eye.

Polygram Entertainment’s history of producing acclaimed music documentaries and films, such as The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart? and Beastie Boys Story, signals high expectations for the upcoming project. Their experience with music-focused storytelling could prove crucial in blending Ozzy’s chaotic rock lifestyle with his tender family moments.

For fans, the biopic promises a rare balance — an unflinching look at the chaos of fame alongside the enduring love story that kept the Osbourne family together through decades of public and private challenges.

Remembering the Prince of Darkness

Ozzy’s death came after years of health struggles, including a 2003 Parkinson’s disease diagnosis he revealed in 2020 and a 2019 fall that required neck surgery. According to his death certificate, he passed away from “out-of-hospital cardiac arrest” and “acute myocardial infarction.” His family described his final moments as being surrounded by love, asking for privacy during their time of grief.

The rock icon’s final performance took place just weeks before his death, when he joined Black Sabbath in Birmingham on July 5 for their farewell concert. Seated on a throne, Ozzy delivered his last show in what became both a nostalgic reunion and a historic farewell. It marked his first performance with the band in 20 years.

Laid to rest in Birmingham on July 30, Ozzy’s funeral drew family, friends, and fans to pay their respects to a man whose music and persona left an indelible mark on rock history. With the biopic still moving forward, his story — both on and off the stage — will soon reach new audiences, ensuring that the legacy of the “Prince of Darkness” continues to shine.
