Miley Cyrus, who is well-known for her amazing and captivating cover performances, gave her fans a musical present as the year came to an end.

The 31-year-old pop sensation posted yet another video from her amazing live performance at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Instagram on Wednesday. The monochrome video, which was released on social media, shows Cyrus performing the Journey 1983 classic “Faithfully”, live in front of a Christmas tree.

Almost a million people have liked this short, black-and-white clip, and even Spotify’s official Instagram account has commented, “We need the full version pls & thx”.

Luckily for Spotify and the throngs of fans who have been clamoring for the full version, Miley kindly made the full version available on YouTube on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Enjoy the pop star’s beautiful rendition of the anthemic tune below:

A simple and powerful rendition of a classic

In a small room decorated for the holidays at the famous hotel, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter gave a moving performance of the soft-rock power ballad. Cyrus stuck to the original composition but went for simplicity, with just a piano accompaniment.

Her vocals were able to soar thanks to this arrangement, which expertly captured the melancholy soul of the poignant lyrics, which explore the difficulties that arise in relationships when one partner is a traveling artist.

When she sang the iconic lyric, “I’m forever yours, faithfully”, the audience erupted in cheers, marking the emotional pinnacle of her performance. In addition to fans, the “Flowers” singer’s family and friends were also present, which gave the event a more intimate feel.

Cyrus responded to the joy of the audience with a charming smile, forging a touching bond between the performer and her fervent fans. In addition to showcasing Cyrus’s vocal prowess, her intimate performance demonstrated her ability to emotionally connect with the audience.

Miley even made fun of Dave Grohl

Wearing a sophisticated black gown with long sleeves and beautiful embroidery, the chart-topping wonder brought her lively personality to the performance.

Miley added a fun touch to the cover by joking, “Dave Grohl is coming out of the Christmas tree for the drums,” a reference to the song’s standout percussion and the legendary drummer from Foo Fighters and Nirvana.

This version of “Faithfully” is just another masterpiece in the vast array of covers created by the “Midnight Sky” singer. Her renditions of iconic favorites including Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”, Britney Spears’ “Gimme More”, Blondie’s “Heart of Glass”, The Cranberries’ “Zombie”, and several more have notably captivated fans in the past.

Miley Cyrus’s flexibility as an artist is demonstrated by her ability to infuse her own style and flair into these varied covers. With each distinct performance, she never fails to surprise and captivate her audience.

Miley’s rarely gives out live performances these days

Following a year-long hiatus from public appearances, the singer’s Thanksgiving Eve performance was her first public performance of “Flowers”.

Before the recent party, she had only sung the song live once, at a private backyard session in March to celebrate the release of her album Endless Summer Vacation.

Cyrus stated in an interview in early 2023 that she had no plans to go on another arena tour. She last went on a lengthy tour in 2014 to support her album Bangerz, which was released ten years earlier. Since then, she has chosen to play in smaller venues and participate in festivals such as Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, and Austin City Limits.

Despite receiving a lot of praise for her performances, Cyrus told Vogue UK that performing in front of large crowds isn’t really something she loves, even describing such big-scale performances as alienating.

“I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever”

Fans should thus not expect an Endless Summer Vacation globe tour anytime soon, since Miley prefers to have more personal and genuine artistic relationships at this time in her career.

“Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love,” the former Teen Queen said. “There’s no connection. There’s no safety. It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people then you are alone.”

Cyrus clarified her earlier comments in a social media post, downplaying the idea of “no connection” and highlighting the fact that the difficulties of traveling are the main reason she is reluctant to go on tours.

In an effort to make things clear, the singer clarified, saying, “I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever,” she explained. “Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart. I’m constant creating and innovating new ways that I can stay connect to the audience I love – without sacrificing my own essentials.
