Oh Boy… Here We Go

If there’s one thing that we can all agree on, it’s that The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin sound as great as ever in a live setting. Both bands are still capable of putting on amazing live shows even after multiple decades, and a large part of that is due to Mick Jagger & Robert Plant’s abilities as front men.

It goes without saying that these two are without a doubt some of the most charismatic and iconic front men in all of rock & roll. When you think of the quintessential rock front man, these two are usually some of the first to come to mind. However, there’s one guy that just isn’t buying any of it…

Blur bassist Alex James recently did an interview with Mirror where he expressed his distaste for the aforementioned Robert Plant & Mick Jagger BECAUSE of their age. Here is what he had to say…

“There are rumors of Led Zeppelin getting back together, and nobody really wants to hear their fucking new record, do they? They want to listen to ‘Stairway to Heaven.’ How old were they when they did ‘Stairway to Heaven’? Like 20 or something? And how old are they now,? They are fucking 70.”

He said he’d “rather be on a cheese counter than pretending to be a teenager. At least people want to come in and try my cheese as well as listen to ‘Parklife’. That is really important. I think it’s really good that I’ve got something else to talk about. You have to do it, otherwise you become this weird, grotesque caricature of yourself by the time you get old like Mick Jagger.”

Now, I can’t honestly say that I’m on the same level as any of these gentlemen, but even I can say that James’ remark are certainly a low blow. That being said, it’d be interesting to hear either Mick or Robert’s reactions to the comments.
