Rock legend Jeff Beck and actor/musician Johnny Depp just released a scathing cover of John Lennon’s 1970 song, “Isolation”.

It comes with a music video that looks like it came from Beck and Depp’s September concert dates – where the public first experienced this rendition of “Isolation” – as the duo dishes out their studio recording in unabashed glory. The clip goes well with the track’s sonic experience, as trippy effects flood the screen every time the song goes into its gritty chorus, never looking back until it’s time for Beck’s dive-bomb solo.

The duo first released the single back in April, after a long working relationship in the music scene’s underground. Their version of “Isolation” was recorded last year, and was released quite early this year, Beck and Depp citing the pandemic as a reason for doing so. “We weren’t expecting to release it so soon, but given all the hard days and true ‘isolation’ that people are going through in these challenging times, we decided now might be the right time to let you all hear it,” Beck said in a statement.
