The Beatles’ legacy as the best band of all time isn’t founded on nothing. Dubbed as the captain of the British Invasion, The Beatles led the charge of British artists and their music into mainland America. The band hailed from Liverpool, and established their roots in the local music scene. They became household names overnight due to their appeal to the masses. The band became so famous that the phenomenon was dubbed Beatlemania. 1964 saw the release of the film A Hard Day’s Night, starring the Beatles themselves. This propelled the popularity of the band furthermore, as seen by its effect on the audience. Long hair, the proliferating attempts to imitate British humor, it was reflected in the everyday lives of fanatics everywhere.

How The Beatles were introduced to Marijuana
The Beatles produced iconic albums such as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club band, Abbey Road and The Beatles, amongst other honorable mentions. Tracks such as “Hey Jude”, “Yesterday”, and “Let It Be” proved to be very influential favorites of the masses. Of course, all of these is credited to the band’s lyrical and compositional prowess. In an era of constant experimentation, especially within the youth, The Beatles are no strangers to recreational substances. The 1960s were a chronological hotspot where sex, drugs, and violence were rampant. The Hippie Movement also rose, in which members indulged in the recreational use of hallucinogenic drugs like marijuana and LSD or acid, among others. They believed in inducing altered states and expanding the consciousness, which is somewhat proven when referring to the material The Beatles’ wrote while under the influence of recreational substances.
George Harrison has a particularly fond memory of when the band discovered marijuana. The Beatles, then teenagers, were playing shows left and right in Hamburg when they came upon pot. The boys immediately fell in love with it, and the rest they say, is history.
