Taron Egerton, who has the lead role as Elton John in the musical biopic Rocketman, also did a duet with the legendary singer-musician on the song “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”, which was written by Elton’s long-time creative partner, Bernie Taupin. Just last week, as the song was added to the shortlist for Best Original Song at the Oscars, a remixed version was released which had Taron and Elton sing over the new electro-funk arrangement courtesy of the artist, Purple Disco Machine.

“Bernie and I wanted to celebrate the nominations for ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again. I’m so happy that Purple Disco Machine was able to come to the party with a fabulous new remix. I’m a massive fan of his work,” Elton John said in a statement.

Apart from the Oscar nomination shortlist, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” also received a nomination for the Golden Globes and a Critics Choice award. The biopic also garnered two other Golden Globe Nominations including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) for Taron Egerton’s acting job as Elton John.
