Dolly Parton recently expressed an interest in reuniting with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin to record a new version of “Stairway to Heaven.”

We can all be reminded that Parton once covered a bluegrass-style version of the song which was included in her Halos & Horns (2002) album. And just recently, in a new interview with Pollstar, the country legend expressed interest in wanting to do a faithful version, along with Plant and Page by her side prior to her induction at the upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“All those things from the rock field were my husband’s idea,” Parton said. “Though he did not like it when I was going to do ‘Stairway to Heaven.’ But I’m going to redo that really on the money … and do it more true to the regular record. I’m trying to see if Robert Plant might sing on it. Maybe Jimmy Page might do the pick-up part on it. I’m looking forward to dragging in some of the great classic people, girls, and boys, to sing on some of the songs.”

Parton stated that the project was not far enough along for her to provide any information, but she did say that she had written a song in response to her invitation to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which she intended to sing at the induction ceremony on November 5.

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant have still yet to say about Parton’s invitation. While waiting, you can listen to Dolly’s version of “Stairway to Heaven” below.
