David Coverdale of Whitesnake shared his thoughts of ex-wife Tawny Kitaen’s tragic death.

“I got a text late at night, and I thought, ‘Oh, my God,’” Coverdale said during an interview from Talkin’ Rock With Meltdown. The pair hadn’t spoken for over three decades, according to the singer, stating: “Really, to be honest, there had been no communication for over 30 years. I’ve been deeply invested, and continue to be invested, in my marriage to Cindy.” The musician also sent his condolences to Kitaen’s family and friends.

Coverdale mentioned Kitaen as “synonymous” to the band Whitesnake, stating that if it weren’t for his ex-wife’s gorgeous looks appearing on the band’s music videos, there would be lesser attention given from fans. He said: “Once you go, ‘Oh, my God, she’s gorgeous,’ you go, ‘Wow, the songs aren’t bad either!’ Yeah, so that was a shock — there was no question.”

Tawny Kitaen was best known for her role in the movie “Bachelor Party,” alongside her appearances on several of Whitesnake’s videos. She died on May 7 from heart disease at the age of 59 years.
