Alex Van Halen Reveals Why He Has No Interest In Sammy’s Tour

Alex Van Halen has made it clear why he won’t be joining Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony on their summer tour. The Best of All Worlds tour was meant to celebrate Hagar’s era with Van Halen, but Alex isn’t interested in being part of it.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Alex expressed his thoughts on the tour. He doesn’t feel that it represents the true essence of the band and is comfortable staying out of it. He’s focused on other projects, like promoting his upcoming book, Brothers.
While Hagar and Anthony continue their tribute, Alex remains firm in his stance. For him, the tour just doesn’t capture what Van Halen truly stood for.
Alex Reflects on the Band’s Early Days
Alex Van Halen’s upcoming book Brothers dives deep into the early era of Van Halen, focusing heavily on the time with David Lee Roth. The book largely skips over Sammy Hagar’s decade with the band and the short-lived Gary Cherone collaboration.
According to Alex, the band wasn’t the same after Roth’s departure. He doesn’t claim that one era was better than the other but emphasizes that the dynamic changed when Roth left.
For Alex, the magic was in the band’s early years. Those were the times when they were experimenting and willing to try anything, and that’s what made that period so special to him.
Keeping It Classy in His New Book
The drummer wants fans to know that his upcoming book, Brothers, isn’t about stirring up drama. He’s not interested in airing dirty laundry or causing division among fans. For Alex, focusing on negativity only drives people apart, and that’s not what he’s about.
To promote the book, Alex will host two East Coast signings on October 21 and 22. Afterward, he’ll participate in a live conversation on October 24 at the Frost Auditorium in Culver City, California.
During the event, fans can ask him anything they want. While Alex is open to questions, he makes it clear that it’s his choice whether or not to answer.
