Rock And Lego? Yes Please!

David Bowie and Mick Jagger’s cover of Martha and the Vandellas’ 1964 classic “Dancing in the Street” was pretty sweet, but that’s not what we remember most about this collaboration – no, it’s the music video that accompanied it. Three minutes of baggy shirts, dancing in an empty street and singing in each other’s faces, the music video for “Dancing in the Street” makes it virtually impossible to escape without a smile or a laugh or two (the eighties were a lawless wasteland, we all know this), and now someone has found a way to make an already iconic music video even more so by creating a shot-for-shot remake using only Lego.

Fun Fact: Bowie and Jagger’s cover of “Dancing in the Street” even includes a nod to The Beatles – can you spot it?

The brainchild of stop-motion animator William Osbourne, the all Lego remake of “Dancing in the Street” is both incredibly adorable and incredibly accurate as it dances two tiny Lego figurines dressed as David Bowie and Mick Jagger around a Lego background and manipulates their tiny mouths to ‘sing’ the song’s lyrics, capturing all of the original music video’s key moments and bringing them to viewers in a way that’s exciting and innovative enough to give them a second chance. Check it out in the video below and while you’re at it, check out more of William Osborne’s Lego stop-motion work – it’s awesome!
