The BEST Musical Collaboration

Back in 1989, members from various legendary rock groups like Queen, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Yes, Deep Purple, Rush and Iron Maiden re-recorded the classic tune “Smoke on the Water.” Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think something as magnificent as this could happen.

But it did and it’s all to help raise money to help those affected by the 1988 Armenian earthquake.

“Ian Paice (Deep Purple drummer) and I often used to jam, just the two of us. It was a natural riff to play at the time. It was the first thing that came into my head during that jam.” – Ritchie Blackmore on how he came up with the iconic riff

Kerrang! referred to it as “the greatest array of hard rock talent every assembled” and I couldn’t agree more. Your favorite rock icons playing on one song – that’s every fan’s dream! Everyone’s on fire and while I am in love with the original version, this rendition is definitely one for the books.
